The women’s line-up
After being forced to retire from Sierre-Zinal after contracting Covid, Judith Wyder (CHE – Hoka) will be back at the Golden Trail World Series in the United States with the aim of scoring big points in the last two races before the final. While the Swiss runner will be hoping to repeat her Mont-Blanc victory, she will have to be wary of Joyce Njeru (KEN – Atletica Saluzzo), who will be wanting to show off her speed on the Californian trails. Madalina Florea (ROM – Salomon) should also be pleased about this race profile, which suits her racing style, so, keep a watchful eye on her. Miao Yao(CHN – Salomon) also likes runnable race profiles and will certainly be keen to prove that she is one of the fastest runners in the field. After an impressive 6th place at Sierre-Zinal, Anna Gibson (USA – Brooks) will be defending the American flag and she knows the area like the back of her hand. The other top women to look out for include Julia Font(ESP – Brooks), Bailey Kowalczyk (USA – Nike Trail), Caterina Stenta (ITA – Salomon), Oria Liaci (CHE – CABV Martigny) and Rachel Tomajczyk (USA – Merrell).
The men's line-up
With two victories and a third place this season, Patrick Kipngeno (KEN – Run2gterher/ON AG) is currently leading the Golden Trail World Series, but with equal points with Elhousine Elazzaoui (MAR – Nnormal) who has one victory under his belt. These two men will want to take sole possession of the lead but will have to be wary of their rivals. RobertoDelorenzi (CHE – Brooks) has had some impressive results in the Series’s last two races and will be keen to score some valuable points ahead of the final. Philemon Kiriago (KEN – Run2gether) made a big impression at Sierre-Zinal, hot on the heels of Kilian Jornet. He now needs to repeat his outstanding performance in the American races to close his gap in the overall rankings. Rémi Bonnet (CHE – Salomon/Red Bull) has had a somewhat complicated start to the season and is hoping to bounce back in the USA races, a country where he has enjoyed many successes. Other runners to keep an eye on include Joey Hadorn (CHE – Salomon), Daniel Pattis (ITA – Brooks), Bart Przedwojewski (POL – Salomon), Alain Santamaria (ESP – Salomon) and Christian Allen (USA – Nike Trail).
Unfortunately, due to a lack of network coverage, we won't be able to broadcast the races live on video. Instead, join us on the Golden Trail Series Instagram page on 14th September to follow the Headlands 27K on social media.
