Take a look at the favourites for the Tatra Sky Marathon, 6th stage of the GTWS 2024:
The women's line-up
The big sensation at this year's Sierre-Zinal, Joyline Chepngeno (KEN – Milimani Runners), will be back this weekend in Poland and will no doubt be the woman to beat. After two podium finishes – Marathon du Mont-Blanc and Sierre-Zinal – Mădălina Florea (ROM – Salomon) will also be one to watch closely at the Tatra Sky Marathon. After sitting out the last two stages, Malen Osa (ESP – Salomon) will be back for this Polish stage and be vying for a podium finish. Miao Yao (CHN – Salomon) scored a great podium spot at the Marathon du Mont-Blanc, will she be able to do it again in Poland? 6th at Sierre-Zinal, Anna Gibson (USA – Brooks) will be aiming to finish in the top 5 in her second race. Other women will also be keen to make their mark: Philaries Kisang (KEN – Run2gether/On AG), Marta Martinez (ESP – La Sportiva), Cristina Simion (ROM – Stiinta Bacau), Naiara Irigoyen (ESP – A4XKM) and Bailey Kowalczyk (USA – Nike Trail).
The men's line-up
Marathon du Mont-Blanc winner and 4-time podium finisher since the beginning of the season, Elhousine Elazzaoui(MAR – Nnormal), preferred to skip Sierre-Zinal. So, he will be the favourite at the Tatra Sky Marathon, although he should look out for Bart Przedwojewski (POL – Salomon) who will want to make a splash on home turf. Roberto Delorenzi (CHE – Brooks) is currently 3rd in the overall ranking and will want to reinforce his position in this 6th stage. Josphat Kiprotich (KEN – Run2gether/On AG) led the race at Sierre-Zinal before finishing 4th, so watch out for him in Poland. Marcin Kubica (POL – Salomon) also knows these trails intimately and will be determined to secure a top 5 finish. Ezekiel Rutto (KEN – Milimani Runners) has just claimed two top 10 spots on the two last stages and will be aiming for more. All these men need to watch out for Alex Garcia (ESP – Brooks), Frédéric Tranchand (FRA – Scott), Alain Santamaria (ESP – Salomon) and Leonard Mitrica (ROM – Datacor Running).
