The Golden Trail World Series (GTWS) has been formally notified by the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) and Sierre-Zinal organisers that Joyline Chepngeno, the woman athlete winner of the 52nd edition of Sierre-Zinal, has returned a positive result from the anti-doping test conducted by Athletics Integrity Unit at the race.

In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA), the athlete has been suspended for a period of 2 years beginning September 8, 2025 and results from August 9, 2025 forward are disqualified.

The GTWS fully endorses the statements issued by both Sierre-Zinal and the WMRA. These organisations, in collaboration with the GTWS, were responsible for carrying out the post-race tests.

The GTWS remains firmly committed to protecting the health of athletes and upholding the principles of clean sport. GTWS categorically rejects any behavior that compromises integrity, equality, or fairness in competition. At every GTWS race, anti-doping tests are conducted on three male and three female athletes by the Athletics Integrity Unit.

The GTWS overall ranking will be provisionally updated to remove Joyline Chepngeno's result at Sierre-Zinal from the standings. Regarding the race itself, the GTWS and Sierre-Zinal recognize Caroline Kimutai as the official winner of the 52nd edition.
