The Top 30 Men and Women from the Golden Trail World Series 2025 overall ranking will receive free race bibs to all the GTWS 2026 races.
The Top 20 Men and women are invited to participate in 4 races of the GTWS 2026, under the condition they pre-register/compete on a minimum of 3 races in the GTWS 2026.
The best 4 results out of 7 races, plus the Grand Finale, will count toward the final standings. After the 7 races, all the athletes that rank in the Top 30 on points at the end, will receive support from the GTWS to participate in the Grand Finale (travel costs, on site transfer and full board accommodation covered).
ATTENTION! To be in the final general classification of the GTWS 2026, the Grand Finale is mandatory.
Athletes ranked outside the Top 30 may also choose to participate in the Grand Finale. Their performance at the Final may allow them to enter the Top 30 of the final 2026 overall ranking and, as a result, become eligible for GTWS athlete support for the 2027 season.
All GTWS races are open to all including the final.
In parallel of this final, GTWS will have an OPEN race with Golden Tickets to be won by the Top 3 Men and Women for the 2027 Golden Trail World Series. If you wish to participate in the competition while you are not in the Top 30 of the GTWS, you will be part of the OPEN classification of the race. If you are ranked in the Top 30 overall ranking after the race, you will be part of the Elites of the GTWS 2027.
Athletes in the Top 30 of the 2026 Final Overall Ranking will be considered Golden Trail World Elites and will get a free bib for the races of their choice in the GTWS 2027.

The 2026 overall ranking will be determined through a more strategic and easy-to-follow system: the best 4 results out of 7 races, plus the Grand Finale, will count toward the final standings. Each race will award a maximum of 200 points, while the Grand Finale will award up to 300 points.
There will be no prologue at the 2026 Grand Finale.
Additionally, the GTWS will introduce a new performance layer based on segments: downhill, climbing, and sprint, which will award extra points toward the overall ranking.
The Top 5 in each segment will score points as follows: 10 for first place, 8 for second, 6 for third, 4 for fourth, and 2 for fifth. The overall standings will include an athlete’s best four results per segment category, plus all segment results from the Grand Finale, for a maximum of 150 segment points. Athletes must finish the race in order to validate segment points.
With this new structure, the maximum possible season score in the overall ranking will be 1,250 points.
For the first time, the Golden Trail World Series will introduce a Team / Brand Ranking, calculated using the points scored by the best two men and best two women from the same team at each race. Over the course of the season, each team’s ranking will be based on its four best team results, plus the points scored at the Grand Finale, ensuring that consistency across the year. Athlete line-ups may vary from race to race as long as they represent the same team.
To further safeguard competitive integrity, the GTWS will significantly expand its anti-doping program in 2026, with 10 tests conducted per race (including multi-class and EPO screening) and 50 out-of-competition tests across the season.
Everyone can participate in the GTWS within the limit of race bibs available and at his/her personal expense.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH ATHLETE TO RESPECT THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF EACH RACE.
After the 7 races, the Top 30 athletes Men and Women will be supported by the GTWS to participate in the Grand Finale.
The athletes will be ranked considering the number of points from the best 4 results out of 7 races.
To be in the final overall classification of the GTWS 2026, the Grand Finale is mandatory.
In the event of a tie, we will apply the following rules to rank the runners:
The GOLDEN TRAIL WORLD SERIES winner is the one with the maximum number of points from the best 4 results out of 7 followed by the mandatory Grand Finale.
In the event of injury and inability to compete before the competition, the runner who would have won his ticket for the GTWS Grand Finale will not receive any compensation, he/she will lose the ticket and will not receive travel expenses.
