17th to 20th October 2024, 23.5KM, 1,400M V+ (+ Prologue) Ascona-Locarno, Switzerland The Golden Trail Series Grand Final will be held in Ascona-Locarno, Switzerland from 17th to 20th October.

The race for the title

This year’s final showdown is almost upon us! The Golden Trail World Series athletes are heading to Ascona-Locarno, Switzerland for the Grand Final from 17th to 20th October. The programme includes: a 7-kilometre prologue with 400 metres of vertical elevation and a 23.5 km race with 1,400 metres of vertical elevation.

Each athlete who scored points in one of this year’s GTWS 8 stages can have a shot at scoring more points in the grand final (although remember that the final is mandatory to be able to have a place in the overall ranking at the end of the season). And with a maximum of 400 points to win in this final – 100 points for the prologue and 300 points for the final race – anything can happen! Will Elhousine Elazzaoui (MAR – Nnormal) and Joyce Njeru (KEN – Atletica Saluzzo) keep hold of their overall ranking? Join us from 17th to 20th October to find out!

The GTNS' top athletes

As well as the ELITES race determining the winners of the 2024 GTWS, the two top men and women as well as the top U23 male and female from each National Series (GTNS) have also been invited to participate in this final and will be battling it out for the GTNS ranking.

As well as the individual overall ranking, there will be a ranking to determine the best U23s in this final. In addition, the times of the best man, woman and two U23s from each GTNS will be added together to establish the GTNS team ranking. Which GTNS team will be crowned the world’s top National Series? Join us on 20th October to find out!

The grand final will be broadcast on Eurosport!

Both the women's and men's races will be broadcast on Eurosport. Like last year, these races have been deliberately separated to provide equal airtime to both the women and men, as well as enabling the male and female athletes to cheer on their counterparts.
